There are numerous reasons you may need a pet care provider, but your best buddy has special needs and you want to make sure you find just the right person. We understand. Your pet is so important to you and you need to know their particular concerns will be handled with care, patience and understanding. Trust is a very important part of any pet care relationship and Peace Love Bulldog wants you to feel completely comfortable knowing a qualified pet caretaker will be looking after your special needs dog or cat.

What is a Special Needs Pet?

  • Pets with mental impairment, often known as doggy dementia, and animals that are blind or deaf are some of the most common special needs concerns.
  • Young kittens and puppies that required intensive feeding schedules.
  • Geriatric pets that suffer from incontinence, the above mentioned doggy dementia, urinary and kidney problems, and mobility issues including arthritis and hip dysplasia.
  • Chronic medical conditions that require daily medication such as diabetes, thyroid issues or epilepsy.
  • Dogs who suffer from acute anxiety may benefit from the extra added attention and care a special needs pet care professional can provide.

Caregiver Skills Offered

  • Medication administered.
  • Wound management, abscess care and bandage changes.
  • Overnight care giving.
  • Hand, syringe and bottle feeding. Dietary supplements administered.
  • Range of motion therapy which is often necessary after orthopedic surgery.
  • Special attention given to mobility impaired pets.
  • Advanced-care treatments discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Getting to Know your Special Needs Pet Care Provider

  • I can’t stress the importance of getting to know me and feel comfortable that your pet’s health and wellbeing is my top priority.
  • Depending on the depth of your pet’s needs several “getting to know you” visits may be necessary. Understanding your pet’s routine and all required needs is paramount to a successful relationship. This also provides the opportunity to ensure your pet feels comfortable with my role in their life.
  • Once a relationship has been established I will require your veterinarian’s contact information, a detailed list of any additional instructions, as well as a medication dosage schedule. It will be necessary to give your vet permission for me to contact him in case of any emergency. This will allow your pet to be treated while under my care.

From special needs pets to nightly tuck-ins, overnight care giving to last minute emergency dog walking appointments, Peace Love Bulldog is here for you and your furry family member.
